Trying to get a Billion 7401VGPM to talk WDS to A Billion 7202GA would work on with both routers on the latest version of firmware. Turns out you have to downgrade the 7202GA to get things to work. The thread on whirlpool (with the very heplful reply is here) is here.

Imbos idea of trying a Buffalo WHR-G54S and changing its firmware to DD-WRT which allows it to connects to my main unit as a client and I can use WPA2 wireless security instead of WDS/WEP sounds like a winner. In a way I hope the 7202 dies sometime soon.
